Rolls of Pita Bread with Chicken and Chili Pepper

Rolls of pita bread with a lot of spices, but with low calorie content — an perfect dish for a picnic.


● Vegetable oil 2 tbsp.,
● Chicken thighs without skin and bones, sliced 6 pcs.,
● Large onion, cut into half rings 1 pc.,
● Crushed garlic 2 cloves,
● Ginger root, peeled and finely chopped 3 cm.,
● Ground cumin 1/2 tsp.,
● Garam masala 1/2 tsp.,
● Tomato puree 1 tbsp.,
● Chili pepper, chopped 1 pc.,
● Juice of half a lemon,
● Pita bread, heated 4 pcs.,
● Red onion, sliced 1/2 pc.,
● Chutney from mango 4 tbsp.,
● Mint or coriander 4 handfuls,
● Yogurt 4 tablespoons.


1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add chicken, fry from all sides until golden brown. Transfer to the plate.
2. Add the onions, garlic, ginger and a pinch of salt to the frying pan. Cook for 5 minutes or until soft.
3. Increase the heat to maximum. Return the chicken to the pan with spices, tomato puree, chili pepper and lemon juice. Well season and cook for 10 minutes until the chicken is tender.
4. Divide the chicken, red onions, chutneys, herbs and yogurt between four warm pita breads. Roll up into rolls and serve.
